Get 147 logos for just $700 – Pubcon crowdsourcing
I have seen what crowdsourcing can do. This is another good example of what you can achieve through crowdsourcing (kind off crowdsourcing, not in the true sense though) http://www.crowdspring.com/projects/graphic_design/logo/pubcon_conference_logo
They have already got 147 logos for just $700. Since I have already worked with Logo designing team, I liked some of the teams representation. I liked how some companies have given the same logo with different background (esp black and white background), this is a great way of testing the logo.
A good logo should be
- Printable at various resolutions.
- Quality at Black and white at various resolutions.
- Color at different sizes.
- Now a days even people are looking for a related relevant icon for phones.
- Along with this, you should have the engineering and arts done properly
A good crowdsourcing should have:
- Right incentives: Sometimes money can backfire. People may like to share it for free. Involve money in a proper way. Example: In the above mentioned URL, it is kept as prize, instead of logo pricing. Yo need to watch your words here. We used to give points for community participation, which could be either then encashed or donated to others. There were people who donated it to others in need.
- Flies attract flies not honey: Remember my old post http://www.idealwebtools.com/blog/flies-attract-flies/? It is a good mantra to learn. Example: We started a section called “Question of the week/month”. We used to collect the answers and showed it only at the end of the week after selecting the best answers. We added the names of the people who answered it under the question. This inspired others to participate.
- Right tools: They like to see more of them while participating. Also make their life easy.
There is much to write about crowdsourcing. Let’s keep it for a bigger post on “Web is crowd”.
